Choosing a Bank

Selecting a bank is not just a matter of going to the most convenient bank branch for your lifestyle. Selecting a bank requires research and time.

It's important to not only select your new bank for the interest rate or no-cost checking. You need to also consider the total cost of doing business with them, the banks overdraft fee's, other fees associated with non-check deposits, foreign depository, returned deposits, the list goes on. You also may want to consider credit unions, they often have lower fees and better loan opportunities. Credit Unions are member owned and typically serve a 'community' like school unions, trade unions, religious institutions and cities and counties.

The time you take to research the many banks and banking options will pay off in the end. 80% of people surveyed said they were not happy with their current bank. When asked why they didn't change banks, they replied "the time it takes to look at the options". Don't make the same mistake and proceed with due diligence in selecting your new bank.
